The wood items of this story are two People of God and a simple block of wood to represent Peniel. The most time consuming part if this story was the ladder. It is made from White Oak and Walnut.

The Story of Sarah is five people of God made from various hardwood, and the frame for Tent. The base of the tent is Ash and the frame is made from Baltic Birch.

Just like the faces of Easter. The 6”x9” Advent cards are made from 1/4” hardboard. The rack is Baltic Birch. The slots are cut at 5 degrees so the lay back.

Ruth Enrichment Story

The Story of Ruth has nine people of God made from various hardwoods, a crown made from Ash, and a small Bethlehem. The city scape is made from 1/4” hardboard and is 6”x”6, with Alder corners on the 9”x9” base.
Like the rest of the Enrichment Lesson, it has an open top lesson tray

Large Bethlehem II

This is the first version of our large Bethlehem. The 3-sided city scape is made from 10”x10” pieces of 1/4” hardboard. The doors and windows are cut out in this version. The first version had small blocks of wood glued to the face. This is much better! The 17”x20” base is 3/8” Baltic Birch sheet stock.

This one was harder than I expected! Hand cutting these to get consistent curves and lines was hard. Not sure I will take many commission for these, we shall see. :) The Crosses are Ash, Alder, and Walnut.

King David

Desert Box II

For ages, I have been playing with versions of the desert box that was rugged enough to stand up to years of many little hands, yet fast enough to produce in my shop when time is one of the most precious commodities. I think I have come up with that version.

The box is the same as the others, utilizing similar materials, 3/4” baltic birch sheet stock and trimmed with alder. The top is a 1/2” piece of un-banded baltic birch with a simple 1/8” round over to ease the edges.

It’s what’s “under the hood” that makes a difference in this version. First I used simple, strong, and FAST joinery--rabbets with screws. I really like the plug detail, it matches nicely with the alder band. This band was attached with glue and biscuits, no mechanical fasteners. A great look and VERY strong!

Below is a picture of a couple boxes ready for pick-up. Note that the cost to package and ship one of these things would very likely eat up any costs savings from the Garageshop!

Holy Family

Here are the main pieces in the Holy Family story: Jesus, Mary & Joseph, 3 “Kings”, 2 shepherds, a sheep, cow, and camel. Woods used are Walnut, White Oak, Birch, Maple, and Alder. Not much wood, but does take a bit of time to cut out! :)

Liturgical Calendar

This is our single most popular commission--probably because of the math!

Math is NOT my friend. Getting a straight stick of wood to wrap around a circle with a 7” radius in 52 equal segments took some noodle scratching. Our liturgical calendar is a bit larger than the commercial version. Our base is 19.5” in diameter. It is made from 3/4” Baltic Birch plywood.

The 52 segments represent the 52 Sundays of the Liturgical (Church) year and are removable as per the needs of the story teller. The colors on the segments above match the vestments our priests wear on Sunday morning. Shown here are the 5 Sundays of Lent, Holy Week and Easter Sunday.

Gold Box

All of the parable stories are told from one of these Gold Boxes. The treasure hidden inside. We make the contents of the parable stories locally, or purchase the color sheets and mount them on hardboard.

Our boxes are 11” square and about 3” high, made from 1/2” Baltic Birch sheet stock. Top is finished with a 1/4” radius round over and the inside of the top s rabbeted so it fists squarely on the box.

Below are a stack of boxes ready to ship. We can entertain a commission for six of these at a time.
